It all started with the United Center’s JumboTron. We produced a Harris Bank ‘We’re Here To Help’ spot featuring Benny the Bull, designed to play at the venue during Bulls and Blackhawk games. It’s a great spot. Everyone loves it. Except the Chicago Blackhawks, who didn’t appreciate that it features the Chicago Bulls. See, Harris sponsors both teams. And the Hawks wanted their own ‘We’re Here To Help’ spot.

So with little money and less time, Harris turned to us. Could we help? Sports being part of E79’s DNA, we said, “Oh yeah.”

We originally intended to shoot one spot, but with some planning, we were able to create two for the same money. The idea was simple: mash up the worlds of banking and hockey. The Hawks got us the players – star defensemen and Olympic gold medal winners Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith. And we brought Resolution Digital Studios on board to shoot, edit and score the spots.

We shot the commercials digitally in one day at Harris’ main branch downtown, using the latest Red digital camera, the Mysterium X. It proved to be an ideal choice due to limited shooting time. Everything went smoothly, and we even got some tips on taping hockey sticks.
